OK, I don’t have the time for the frequent updates like yesterday, but shit is going on and I have a few seconds here and there:

3:30 (EST)/ 2:30 (CEN):  Women still in jail are/were on hunger-strike, demanding that people with special diets (i.e., vegans) be provided with the appropriate food and that people in need of medical attention receive it.  There are now reports that both are happening, though slowly, as there are still dozens of people locked up but only one nurse at the prison.  Most of those still in jail are being held (and not booked) because they “refuse to cooperate” with the sherifs.  There are also scattered reports that some/most/all (?) are being kept in 23 hour solitary confinement (this may just be an exaggeration though, I can’t imagine the county jail with that kinda space- but who knows).  Jail support people outside are now reporting that they’re being surrounded by cops.  Earlier in the day, calls from the Ramsey County Jail to the Cold Snap Legal Collective were being blocked by police but have now just started to go through.  Also, people are being told that they will not be allowed to retrieve their personal property from the Sherif until next Monday, which is an unbelievable mess for those from out of town who need to get home to work.

There doesn’t seem to be the the same street-clashes as yesterday going on, just a handful of smaller protests and tons of riots cops everywhere, searching people at random throughout St Paul.

The most interesting thing I’ve seen, so far today, is that a group of Dakota peoples have gone to an ancient, sacred tribal space in Minneapolis known as Coldwater Springs and have “re-taken it” in the name of their people.  Large numbers of riot cops and agents from DHS are reportedly on their way there now there and preparing themselves with gas masks, etc…. oh, it just came in that the Dakota presented the thugs, er, cops with a four day permit they have from the city to use the land for ceremonies- they should be OK.

“The Poor People’s March” is expected to get underway soon.  More direct actions and heavy police violence is expected there.

Search YouTube.com or some of the IMC’s I linked to yesterday, lots of simply amazing video and photos are out there.

8:30 (EST)/ 7:30 (CEN):  There’s a surprise Rage Against the Machine show, apparently at the State capital lawn(?).  A huge riot cop presence is being reported there.  Also, there are scattered but consistent reports coming across all the newswires that there are snipers on rooftops and frequent sightings of “little red laser lights” on protest crowds.  Journalists are being targeted and arrested throughout the day.  The Poor People’s March is underway, and if that’s the march I was just watching at theUpTake, I’d say there’s at least 1,000 people (from what I saw- the reporter’s camera battery just ran out).  Jail solidarity and support is on-going as people have been slooowwwwllllyyyyy trickling out of jail all day; there is a heavy police presence outside the jail and they’ve been harassing support people all day.

8:45 (EST)/ 7:45 (CEN):  Police have refused to allow Rage Against the Machine to take the stage, so they’ve taken off in spontanious march through the street towards Xcel Center with approx 200-300 people chanting “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me!” (that’s a RATM lyric, for those unfamiliar); hugely insane number of riot cops following them.  They’ve just joined with the Poor People’s March which is reportedly “several thousand” people strong.

Over a dozen people in jail on hunger strike demanding medical attention for seriously ill woman who is passed out in cell and being denied medical treatment.

9:10 (EST)/ 8:10 (CEN):  Organizers at lead of Poor People’s March asked “people dressed in black” to move to back to march or breakaway; they then clearly and repeatedly declared that they would “now engage in an act of non-violent civil disobedience and issue a citizen’s arrest to Republican leaders for Crimes Against Humanity; they were approaching the security perimeter of the Xcel Center when the live feed cut-out.

Area hospitals have just been alerted by police that they are preparing to gas the crowds.

2:00 AM (EST)/ 1:00 AM (CEN):  OK, well, through a combination of excitement over the RNC’s kick-ass ass-kicking and shear anxiety over the reports I’ve gotten over the phone, through emails, and from the web, I had to take a break there and hit-up some karaoke at Charlie-O’s in Montpelier.  In solidarity, I busted out a Guns N’ Roses “Civil War” (lyrics reprinted bellow the fold).

In the meantime, “flash bang grenades” (whatever the fuck that means) were reportedly used on protesters; cops finally left the Coldwater Springs site around 11:00; all reports are that riot cops became very aggressive shortly after my above update (at which time people monitoring police scanners overheard “lets go in for the kill”, “We’re sick of this shit”); hundreds of riot cops in formation charging at demonstrators; an event for the American Petroleum Institute (which was attended by bigwigs from the McCsame campaign) was seriously disrupted by “Lobbyists for McCain” (i.e., “Billionaires for Bush”) protesters; around 11:30 (Central Time) reports started coming in of detention buses and cops gathering outside the Downtown HQ of TC IMC (who have just kicked fucking ass all week long)- no new posts have come in from them since just before midnight and it might be fair to assume they’ve been raided, and possibly arrested.  In fact, I can’t reach the folks I know on the ground right now, and no new live feeds have been updated with pertinent info of what’s happening right now in Saint Paul for over an hour (over 2 hours from TC IMC).

(Really late Tuesday/early Wednesday):  Unfortunately, I can’t figure out how to embed these vids directly, but this is why I’ve been frequently linking to TheUpTake, who have done an amazing job of placing journalism (real journalism, not the MSM BS that’s going around) at the center of the RNC protests:

Still no new updates from either TC IMC, Portland IMC, or Cold Snap….

So Late That I Might Just Start My S3 Post In A Minute:  The TC IMC (nearly 3 1/2 hours later) is back on-line and was never raided.  A number of cops had amassed outside but never entered the building and they went on a scramble to back-up data and call in lawyers; they still don’t know why their connection failed but they’ve resumed their breaking news feed.  Seemingly, protests are still happening throughout the Twin Cities, as both the IMC and Cold Snap Legal breaking news feeds are suddenly alive with various reports of arrests, detentions, riot cops and cops on horses at various places throughout the cities.  Good night, good luck, and be smart out there kids.  Also, the Poor People’s March from earlier reported being heavily infiltrated by under-covers and provocateurs.

Great pics and video from yesterday continue to come out:

“Civil War” by Guns N’ Roses

“What we’ve got here is failure to
communicate.
Some men you just can’t reach…
So, you get what we had here last week,
which is the way he wants it!
Well, he gets it!
N’ I don’t like it any more than you men.”

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they’ve always done before

Look at the hate we’re breeding
Look at the fear we’re feeding
Look at the lives we’re leading
The way we’ve always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can’t deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D’you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said “Peace could last forever”
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can’t trust freedom
When it’s not in your hands
When everybody’s fightin’
For their promised land

I don’t need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin’ soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain’t that fresh
I don’t need your civil war

Look at the shoes you’re filling
Look at the blood we’re spilling
Look at the world we’re killing
The way we’ve always done before
Look in the doubt we’ve wallowed
Look at the leaders we’ve followed
Look at the lies we’ve swallowed
And I don’t want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I’ve seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
‘Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

“WE PRACTICE SELECTIVE
ANNIHILATION OF MAYORS AND
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
FOR EXAMPLE TO CREATE A VACUUM
THEN WE FILL THAT VACUUM
AS POPULAR WAR ADVANCES
PEACE IS CLOSER”

I don’t need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin’ soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain’t that fresh
And I don’t need your civil war
I don’t need your civil war
I don’t need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin’ soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain’t that fresh
I don’t need your civil war
I don’t need one more war

I don’t need one more war
Whaz so civil ’bout war anyway
