I know it’s a ways off still, so I’ll remind folks when we get closer to the date, but I wanted to pass on that Black Sheep Books has just announced two events at the Langdon Street Cafe in Montpelier in February.  The first is Monday, Feb 4th at 6:00, and is titled “RNC Welcoming Committee Tour: Crash the Convention“.  This talk will feature three organizers from Minnesota’s Twin Cities, which will be hosting the Republican National Convention from September 1-4, 2008.  The RNC Welcoming Committee is an explicitly anti-authoritarian body presently organizing protests and the like for the September convention.   There is similar organizing going on for the Democratic National Convention, which will be in Denver, Colorado August 24-28.  Worth a brief mention right now (and likely more in depth at a later date) is the fact that the recently revived Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) is involved in a protest organizing body auspiciously calling itself Re-Create ’68.  Whew, I wouldn’t even know where to begin, so for now, I’ll just say: Good luck with that.  The other event Black Sheep Books will be putting on happens Saturday, February 23rd at 2:00 in the afternoon and is called “Children: An Endangered Species?“.  It’ll be a talk and discussion with Chris Mercogliano and Manny Bernsein.  More to come on that as it gets closer as well.
